Brown Trout Fishing

This section provides information on the main venues that we fish for brown trout. These venues can be grouped into our local waters here in Easter Ross, and those further afield that we visit on extended day trips and overnight or multi-night excursions.

TroutQuest has private arrangements for wild brown trout fishing on a number of trout lochs locally including Bad a' Bhathaich, Eye, Morie and Loch Glass. We can also arrange trout fishing on Lochs Achonachie and Meig in Strathconon controlled by the Loch Achonachie Angling Club and the lochs of south-east Sutherland controlled by the Kyle of Sutherland Angling Association and Dornoch Anglng Club.

In spring and early summer we can arrange brown trout fishing on the River Alness, the Upper Conon and the Upper Blackwater, but river trout fishing becomes harder to find once the summer salmon runs begin.

The map below shows the locations of some of our favourite day trip and excursion destinations. The lochs of Assynt can be reached in under 1½ hours, those of Caithness in 1½ - 2 hours and the Durness lochs in 2+ hours.

The Northern Highlands

We also fish other lochs in other areas throughout the Northern Highlands, and we will expand this section over time to include information on these venues.
